re: LEVEL 70 Warlock PvE Builds

0
The many hits from the 3.x nerf bat have left many locks a bit unsure as how to spend their talent points. Personally I'm still feeling out different builds to find one that is comfortable for my playstyle.

The silver lining in this horrid mishmash of talents and spells are the demons. 80% avoidance to AoE effects goes a long way to keep your little buddies alive in a raid. I've always been partial to demonology... I mean heck why play a warlock if you don't like your demons?

Below are a couple of suggested builds. You might be able to pick up more information at the Elitist Jerks foums http://elitistjerks.com/f31/t17008-warlock_pve_raiding_compendium/

Demonology
Glyphs - Corruption & Shadow Bolt
Essentially you keep up your DoTs and shadow bolt spam like the old days. Demonic Empowerment is no longer on the Global Cooldown so take advantage of this "free" damage boost. Sacrifice can be used for those bad fights when you just know your pet probably won't last long. Demonic Empathy may not be very good with Felguard variants because it will only activate on a special ability crit (Cleave). And finally Metamorphosis is used like an uber 20% damage bonus trinket.

Demonic Pact

I used to be very excited about Demonic Pact... until I found out it doesn't stack with the raid wide Shaman totems. But for 5 and 10 man groups Demonic Pact may in fact be really very helpful.

Destruction

Glyphs - Imp or Felguard & Immolate (WotLK)
With the recent talent changes shadow bolts are no longer an option at all for deep destruction. ALL the final talents revolve around fire and the red headed step child spell Conflagrate.

The suggested initial cast sequence is Curse of Agony, Chaos Bolt, Immolate and then Incinerate spam. During the fight always keep Curse of Agony running for the Molten Core buff. When Immolate has about 3 seconds (or less) be sure to Conflagrate and begin your Backdraft sequence. The suggested Backdraft sequence is Immolate, Chaos Bolt and then Incinerate spam. Hopefully Chaos Bolt will be upgraded to something worthy of being a 51 point talent.
