re: DKP SYSTEM IMPLEMENTED

0
TNE has implemented our new DKP System, and I wanted to re-post Dapimphand's prior post on how the DKP system works in our news section so everyone can see it in all of it's light and glory.. on the home page of our website. Here it is:

Just take note this system is still a work in progress and we might tweak things a little

What is our system?

We're using a Zero-Sum DKP system in combination with Incentive Points and in rare occasions "Officer Intervention".

Zero sum what is it?

The way this system works is points are recycled through the system.

Example: Lets say an item is purchased for 50 dkp by Person A. How many points would each raid member receive? In this example we would take the 50dkp and divide it by 25 (base raid number) leaving 2 points for everyone to recieve. This includes the person that purchased the item for 50 dkp. The starter points given to every guildie is 100 points, so in this example (had there not been any prior transactions) Person A would be left with 52 points while the rest of the raid would have 102. Points are only spent when the bids are won by you... points are not spent on non-winning bids.

What is our Incentive Program (The BIG IP)?

TNE is giving an incentive through extra DKP to the people who are on time for the raid (5dkp) and those who stay the entire length of the raid (Tues & Wed 9pm-1am. Sun 8pm -12am ) another 5dkp. This is because we have had prior issues with people showing up late and leaving early, which hurts the whole raid & TNE progression. So The BIG IP is to encourage everyone to show up on time and stay the entire duration of the raid.

What is on time? On time is not logging in 1 minute prior to raid start. on time is being ready 30 minutes prior to the start of the raid. For a 9pm start time that would be 8:30 that you should be ready for the raid .. this does not necessarily mean that invites will be sent at 8:30 but we want to be pulling mobs by 9pm. Also by being ready you need to have the appropriate flasks, food, and other buffs and all of your gear must be enchanted and gem'd... and ESPECIALLY NO "I need 5 more min to complete this quest/ daily". Exceptions can be made in rare cases if we ask you to respec for the evening.

In addition if you stay the entire time of the raid (i.e. 9pm - 1am) you get another 5 dkp. What if on a certain occasion we raid later into the night? There is no extra DKP awarded to those who stay later as our raid times are set beforehand for those who need to keep to a schedule. TNE understands that RL comes first.

Whats is Officer Intervention?

This is a similar feature found in Loot Council. In rare cases we might step in and award an item to someone who may not have the most dkp to spend on it .

Why would we do this? Does this defeat the dkp system? NO. The bottom line is we want whats best for the raid.

There will be rare occasions on certain items that are best fit for a certain class or best deserved by a certain player. Our goal is for our system to be the most fair and to assist the raid in it's progression as quickly as possible. This will help us find that balance between standard DKP systems and the benefits within Loot Council. An example where Officer Intervention will come into play is when a player bids on a item that is not suited for their class, i.e. Hunter bidding on an item with Strength, Healer bidding on one with +hit. Another time Officer Intervention might come into play are on Pinnacle Items. This includes Legendary items, and even items that are best in class from end bosses, i.e. Betrayer of Humanity. We don't want to encourage people to "hoard" points, which has been a negative effect of DKP in other guilds, just to get that one status symbol item. We would rather people spend their points on upgrades that will assist the raid in it's progression, and therefore benefit the whole and not just the individual. And the Pinnacle Items that exist are best to be rewards for those who play their hearts out and contribute the most. That has been a large advantage of Loot Council that we were afraid of losing by switching to DKP but we found a way to have the best of both worlds. Kind of like Perzy's Blow-Up doll collection.

There will always be people who find a flaw in the system somewhere. Nothing is perfect, not even Perzy in a gstring singing mony mon .. with Malfestor and Nelephim as backupdancers in a sexy whip cream bikini . Though lets not kid ourselves its damn close. The only thing i can ask you is that you trust us when we step in that we are in fact doing what we feel is best for the raids interest and our progression as a guild.

How our DKP prices determined?

The amount an item costs is determined by you the raiders. You must bid in increments of 10 (ie 10 then 20 then 30 etc). So lets say an items drop and you bid 10. If someone else wants it they can also bid 10 (for a tie) or they can bid 20 ... where the highest bidder is the winner. Bids can go back and forth like betting in a card game. Bids do not have to start at 10, someone can start higher and even go all-in. In a case of a tie a /roll would take place. In the case that both bidder's have used ALL of their DKP and are still tied, instead of a roll it would be Loot Council'd to who gets to purchase the item.

I want an item but dont have enough dkp what happens?

In a case where you dont meet the min bid of 10 dkp you are allowed to bid (a maximum of) 10 points and go negative as long as there are no others that are bidding that have enough DKP. We feel its better that someone gets an item as opposed to it being DE'd. This is the only way that you can infact go negative with DKP. But remeber you will only get this item if no one else wants due to the fact you dont meet the min bidding requirements.

How much dkp do i have?

The amount of dkp you would have to spend is added after each boss. So lets say you had 139 dkp ... 2 items drop off the boss ..Someone gets the first item for 50 dkp which would give you 141 ... can you bid 140 on the second item that dropped? No because coming into the boss you only had 139 dkp ... So whatever your total is going into the boss fight is what youll have to work with. After the boss points are tallied and awarded.
