re: Profession Leveling guides

This is a quick reference guide for ease in leveling professions. I copied these guides (editted for Horde of course) from Thottbot.

Hopefully this quick reference will help everyone in leveling professions with ease.

FIRST AID

THOTTBOT'S First Aid Guide

Since the topic of WHERE and HOW keeps popping up, I decided to create this simple straightforward guide to help you level and train your First Aid.

==Skill Level 1 to 125==
You can learn these skills from the Apprentice/Journeyman First Aid trainer.

- Linen Bandages (cloth from humanoids lvl 3-27)
- Heavy Linen Bandages (cloth from humanoids lvl 3-27)
- Wool Bandage (cloth from humanoids lvl 14-36, sheep skinning)
- Heavy Wool Bandage (cloth from humanoids lvl 14-36, sheep skinning)

==Skill Level 125 to 225==
To skill up beyond 150, you learn it through a book called "Expert First Aid - Under Wraps" you can purchase from a vendor. For Horde, you get this from Balai Lok'Wein inside Brackenwall Village in Dustwallow Marsh.

As well, make sure to purchase the "Manual: Heavy Silk Bandage" (skill 180) for 22 silver and "Manual: Mageweave Bandage" (skill 210) for 50 silver from the vendor, so you can learn it later.

- Silk Bandage (cloth from humanoids 19-47)
- Heavy Silk Bandage (cloth from humanoids 19-47)
- Mageweave Bandage (cloth from humanoids 28-51)

==Skill Level 225 to 300==
First, you need to be level 35 and have a First Aid level of 225. Second, you need to do a quest to learn Artisan First Aid.
For Horde, you will need to find Doctor Gregory Victor inside Hammerfall in the Arathi Highlands. These two NPC's will give you a quest called "Triage". All you have to do is use the bandages the NPC gives you to bandage up the wounded that appears on the floor around you. If too many wounded die under your care, you fail the mission and you'll have to abandon it and get it again.

At skill 240, the NPC will teach you how to make "Heavy Mageweave Bandage". At skill 260, the NPC will teach "Runecloth Bandage" and at 290, "Heavy Runecloth Bandage".

- Heavy Mageweave Bandage (cloth from humanoids 28-51)
- Runecloth Bandage (cloth from humanoids 47-71)
- Heavy Runecloth Bandage (cloth from humanoids 47-71)

==Skill Level 300 to 375==
You can get this book from a vendor in the Outlands called "Master First Aid - Doctor in the House" for 5g.
For Horde, you get it from Aresella inside Falcon Watch in Hellfire Peninsula who sells the "Manual: Netherweave Bandage" for 2g and the "Manual: Heavy Netherweave Bandage" for 4g.

- Netherweave Bandage (cloth from humanoids 56-71)
- Heavy Netherweave Bandage (cloth from humanoids 56-71)

*Yes, you can learn beyond 300 if you DO NOT have the TBC expansion. You just need to get the book to learn it. Have a friend, guild mate or another player get it for you from the Outlands.

==Skill Leveling Tip==
I suggest you keep learning a First Aid skill if the skill shows up as Orange or Yellow. Once it becomes green, the chance to level up your FA skill is a lot less. It's also a waste of cloth.

What I do is level my skill up as much as I can before it reaches Green, then stop and wait until I either run out of bandages to use or until I learn a new FA skill in the Orange or Yellow. At Green, if you're still trying to level up through Heavy Linen Bandages for example, you might as well save the cloth up and sell them in the Auction House.

also: the Assassination Rogue's Quick Recovery ability increases the healing from Heavy Netherweave to 510 per tick, instead of 475.

==For Healers==
I play a Restoration Shaman and a Discipline Priest. To save mana between mobs, I use bandages on my fellow party members, as well as myself. Then use light heals for left-over damage I need to heal up.

What I do is always keep at least one stack of Netherweave Bandage and at least one stack of Heavy Netherweave Bandage. This allows me to moderate between heavy healing and lower healing.

So making bandages before entering an instance should be well considered. It will save time wasted on drinking for mana.

re: Cooking

0
COOKING

So here are the pro's and con's of having cooking:

con's - Time eating
- Training, recipes and meats if you chose to buy instead of grind, are pretty expensive.
- You will not be able to make a profit from Auctions until after 300 cooking.
- Leveling 275-300 and 360-375 is tricky without fishing. If you have fishing, these fish you need are fished in areas in which my maxed fishing and +20 fishing pole, so 395 fishing, still loses over half the fish. The zones are: Bay of Storms in Azshara and the high level ponds in Outland that drop Crawdads
- If you want to make money and use every little penny you loot, cooking will not help much if you eat the foods. If you vendor them and plan to wait till 300+ to be able to Auction them, then it's a good profession, as the cooked items cost bit more than the raw items.
- Some of the foods give no bonuses.

pro's - A very own cooking daily, which you'll be able to access at 350 cooking. It gives 7.5 gold and a crate of meat or barell of fish as reward. The meats drop normally 4-6 pieces of one type of meat and 4-6 of another, aswell as a gray item worth anywhere between 2c and 1g. The fish reward contains 4-6 fish of one type, 4-6 of another, sometimes a Huge fish to keep in offhand or cook, and a gray item worth between 2c - 1g.
- One cooking Quest per faction, useful XP, items and specially reputation if you're after the elusive cat, horse or kodo and are short of 4 stacks of Runecloth.
- The profit after 300 is really nice, at least on my realm, as stacks of food cost anywhere between 10g - 50 g.

There's a food for everyone out there:
- Hunter pets have their own little munchy wunchies that give them +20 str or +20 sta and spirit and 10 instant happiness. One is made from Buzzard meat (kibler's bits) and one is made from Strange Spores (sporeling snack, you do not need friendly Sporeggar to purchase it, simply have a friend turn in a mushroom for it and trade it to you)
- Rogues have the tasty Thistle Tea to instantly restore 20 energy. Might not be much, but if you're a twink.. ;)
- DPS classes have +20 str/+40 AP (mind you, it's same thing) food after 300 skill. Pretty nice, huh?
- Agility loving people have their own choice of two foods, one from warped flesh, one from figluster's mudfish, that gives them +20 agi. Nice boost for your dodge/crit.
- People that miss an eye aren't ignored either. There's a food that gives +20 hit rating. Useful in PVE.
- Tanks have +20 sta, or +30 from Fisherman's Feast. Useful in instances, even tho people might complain that 200 or 300 more hp isn't worth it, but sometimes it might be the thing that makes the diffrence between death and life. Trust me.
- Casters aren't ignored either. There's 20 sta and 8 mana every 5 seconds food, as well as 23 spell damage and 20 spirit, 20 spell crit rating and 20 spirit. For low levels, there's Goldthorn Tea that gives 1344 mana over 21 seconds, and the Runn Tum Tubers that give 10 intellect.
- Healers aren't forgotten for their important role either. Golden Fish Sticks gives +44 healing and 20 spirit.
- For special Raiders, there's a food that gives 8 resistance to all magic classes.
And there's fun foods too!
- Santa loves Gingerbread Cookies and Milk. You'll get a gift from him for that.
- Cheer a friend up with a Chocolate Cake. It's a drop from meat crate from cooking daily.
- Egg nogg and Apple Cider are everyone's favorite Christmas Alcohol Drinks, isn't it true?
- There's a drink that makes you drunk AND gives you 10 skill in fishing. It's a reward from Fishing Daily quest.
- Deviate Delight is pretty common. This should say pretty much it, and I've met a lot of people who took cooking and fishing just for this.
- Dragonbreath Chili to belch fire at enemies, Stormchops to buzz them up with lightning bolts.
And for those who love epics, there's an epic recipe quest from Dirge in Tanaris. Sadly, that requires some Anh'Quiraj.

Re: 1 - 375 cheap and easy guide
For Horde:

1. Take portal to Silvermoon. Kill Dragonhawks for 60 Small Eggs. They have over 100% drop chance, meaning sometimes they drop even 2 eggs, but always will drop atleast one.

2. Go to Silvermoon, teleport to Undercity, go kill murlocs south of undercity until you have 40-50 Clam meat. Another option is killing murlocs in Ghostlands, on the northwestern shore, then going back to Silvermoon and Undercity.

3. Fly to Durotar from Undercity, or use Hearthstone and go to Orgrimmar. Go to Barrens. Do the Dig Rat quest and get 40 additional Dig Rats. Go to Crossroads, get the Hot Lion Chops recipe. Kill lions until you get 50 - 60 Lion Meat. From Orgrimmar, fly to Felwood. You need to kill bears till you get 25 - 30 x Bear Flank and grab either of the Bear recipes from town. Fly back to Orgrimmar.

4. Take the zeppelin to Grom'Gol Base Camp, Stranglethorn. Grab the Recipe for Roast Raptor, kill Raptors right north of town till you get 60 x Raptor Flesh. Take the wyvern to Booty Bay, take boat back to Barrens, fly to Tanaris.

5. Grab the Tender Wolf Steak recipe from Cook trainer in Gadgetzan. Kill Hyenas for 25 x Tender Wolf Meat, kill buzzards for 12 Giant Egg and kill turtles for 12 Zesty Clam Meats. Fly to Silithus.

6. Kill sandworms for 25 x Sandworm meat. You need to do the quest for it with the charachter you want cooking on. Now use Hearthstone.

7. As soon as you get to Shattrath, fly to Hellfire, grab either the Smooth as Butter quest and kill buzzards for 25 Buzzard Meat or grab the Ravager Dog recipe from Thrallmar and kill ravagers for 25 x Ravager meat. Grab the Master Cookbook from Thrallmar.

8. Fly to Nagrand. Grab either Roast Clefthoof recipe or Talbuk Steak recipe. Get 25 x Talbuk Venison or 25 x Clefthoof Meat.

9. Fly to Blade's Edge. Do the quest for Mok'Nathal goodies, ONLY if this is the char you plan to get cooking capped, as the recipes are BoP. Get 70 Serpent Flesh or 70 Raptor Ribs or a mix of both.

Now, mail all these to your alt or keep if this is the char you want cooking on. Go to a cooking trainer and cook as following:

Train Apprentice Cooking.

Cook 60 Small Eggs. You will need 60 additional Mild Spices.
Train Boiled Clams. Cook the clams. You will need 40-50 Refreshing Spring Water, 1 for each clam.

Use Expert Cookbook.

Use the Dig Rat recipe. Cook all the Dig Rats.
Use the Hot Lion Chops recipe. Cook all the lion meats. You will need 60 additional Hot Spices.
Train Roast Raptor Recipe. Cook Roast Raptor. You will need 60 additional Hot Spices.

Fly to Tanaris. Do the quest that asks you to turn in 12 Giant Eggs, 10 Zesty Clam Meat and 20 Alterac Swiss. Now you have Artisan Cooking.

Use the Tender Wolf Steak recipe. You will need 25 additional Soothing Spices.
Use the Bear recipe you pick. Cook the bear flanks.
Go to Silithus and get the Sandworm Quest. Cook Sandworms. You will need 25 additional Soothing Spices.

Hearthstone to outland, Fly to Blade's Edge. Use the Master Cook book. Train the Buzzard Bites or Ravager Dog. Cook them.
Train the Talbuk Steak or the Clefthoof meat. Cook them.
Do the quest for the Mok'Nathal shortribs and Crunchy Serpent. Cook them all.
By this time you should have 375 skill. If not, cook more serpents or raptor ribs.

If you have fishing, things are much more simple for the 275-300 and 350-375 zones:

for 275-300, fish 30-35 Darkclaw Lobsters from Azshara. You will need at least 400 fishing with all the buffs and +fishing if you want to catch most of the fish in there. Grab the recipe from Feralas. Cook them to 300.

This replaces the Sandworm Meat, and to me, it was much more faster and easier. You can also buy from AH or pay someone to fish for you.

for 350-375, fish Furious Crawdads, again, you need at least 400 fishing with all buffs to catch them. Grab the recipe for Spicy Crawdad and cook. This reduces the number of shortribs and crunchy serpents dramatically, from 70 to only 25. Again, you can buy from AH or pay someone to fish for you.

BLACKSMITHING

Everything from leveling your skill, plans, trainers and specialization, you can find them all here: http://www.wowwiki.com/Blacksmithing

More specifically, if you just want a list to all Blacksmithing plans, you can find them here: http://www.wowwiki.com/Guide_to_obtaining_every_blacksmithing_recipe

As for what class goes with Blacksmithing? Any Plate and Mail wearing class would do just fine - eg: Warrior and Paladins. As well, you can learn Armoursmithing that will allow you to create various armour and weaponsmithing and further specialize into Hammersmithing, Axesmithing and Swordsmithing.

Other classes that may benefit from Blacksmithing are Hunters, Shamans and Rogues for their one and two handed weapons.

What 2nd profession goes well with Blacksmithing? Mining. It will make your life in WoW as a Blacksmith a lot easier if you have mining to complement it. If you detest mining for whatever reason, you might want to take a look at my "Profession Guide" located here: http://thottbot.com/v4110665

MINING

THOTT: Mining

Mineable Mobs: http://www.wowwiki.com/Mineable_Mobs
Mining Nodes: http://www.wowwiki.com/Mining_proficiencies

===TRAINERS===

++Apprentice, Journeyman, Expert, Artisan++

- Brom Killian, The War Quarter, Undercity
- Brek Stonehoof, Lower Rise, Thunder Bluff
- Krunn, Razor Hill, Durotar
- Makaru, Valley of Honor, Orgrimmar
- Belil, Farstriders' Square, Silvermoon
- Johan Focht, The Sepulcher, Silverpine Forest

=Neutral=
- Pikkle, Gadgetzan, Tanaris

++Master++
- Krugosh (Horde), Thrallmar, Hellfire Peninsula

Rare minerals like Silver, Gold and Truesilver spawn where their perspective ores spawn. Each time a node spawns, it has a chance to be it's rare mineral.
-Tin = Silver
-Iron = Gold
-Mithril = Truesilver
-Fel Iron+Adamantite = Khorium
Eternium seems to be a random drop in Khorium, Adamantite and Fel Iron veins

For Copper
-Durotar, right outside Orgrimmar there are tons of copper veins everywhere.
-Also, the hills outside of Silvermoon and along the scar have Copper veins in plenty, but not near as much as the mountains surrounding Ogrimmar

For Tin (Silver)
-STV, there is a little to be found around north STV
-Ghostlands, Search along the scar going back and forth
-Thousand needles (my reccommendation) Tons of Copper, tin and Iron veins here. just let gatherer do its job and make a set path. (Make sure to check any spot including the edges, with rocks and or mountains portruding. just look at your map.)

For Iron (Gold)
-For lower levels, stick to Thousand needles if you have found a path with iron in it.
-Badlands, around the middle and not along the edges. Try to hit all of the large mountains in the middle areas of the map.
-STV, not very much here, but look for it as you quest.

For Mithril (Truesilver)
-Badlands, make a complete circle on the edges of the map where the mountains surrounding Badlands are. There is so much Ore, and Truesilver spawns a lot here. This is a path that will take a while to complete, and all of the ore will be back by the time you come to where you started. ( I start directly in front of the flight path going towards the giant humanoid camp and follow the edges hitting all the veins. I stealthed past the elite dragons on the far east side. a lot of mithril veins sprout here.)
-Tanaris, mithril is mostly found along the south and southwest corners of the map, along with the insect lairs. one small thorium vein always spawns in the exact part of the southwest corner. (Not the ideal place for mithril, but the second best)

For Thorium
-Ungorro Crater, this is the best place(lower level mobs, and is shaped like a giant circle which is ideal for path mining). you must take time to search all the edges, the entire gorrilla cave, the firey mountain in the middle and the insect lair. once gatherer has noted all these spots, set up a path for you to take, and do it over and over again. this should get you to 300 in a couple of hours if you are grinding from 230-250. but it depends on how well you can PvE, because most of these veins are surrounded by 1-2 mobs.

Fel Iron
-The best place is Hellfire Penninsula. Just look in any mountainous area, and get a path going. you should be at 340-350 by the time you leave from questing. also, it is scattered around Zangamarsh. but mostly on the edges of the map.

Adamantite
-Ok, this one goes out to all of those people who have their flying mount!!!
Nagrand is by far the best place to get this stuff by the handfulls. Just mount up, fly around the caves, in the lakes and all along the edges to get a path for this going. with 2 hours of farming you can have yourself 200+ ada ore, and if you're a JC like me, that means tons of blue gems within two hours!!! of course this is for those with epic flyers. with the normal mount it might take you a bit longer... i predict 80 ore to every 2 hours if you dont have epic mount. just make sure to come here at night or even later, because this is a popular spot, and you will be ganked 5+ times for every 2 hours of farming

Blades Edge is also a good spot if you need adamantite. there are also a few spread out fel iron veins to be found here. This spot can be useful and great if Nagrand is currently being looted by alli or horde at a high rate... i suggest that you come here if nagrand is being mined like mad, as it will be sometimes.

==MOONCLOTH==
You can obtain a quest from Nasmara Moonsong (Neutral) in the Lower City section of Shattrath City if you have a minimum of Tailoring at 350 and a player level of 60.

A tailor must be at a Moonwell to craft Primal Mooncloth. The cooldown on the crafting is 96 hours, but it's not shared with the cooldowns on the other types of specialized cloth.

==SHADOWEAVE==
You can obtain a quest from Andrion Darkspinner (Neutral) in the Lower City section of Shattrath City if you have a minimum of Tailoring at 350 and a player level of 60.

A tailor must be at the Altar of Shadows located in Shadowmoon Valley to craft Shadowcloth. The Altar of Shadows is directly south of the Scryers' Sanctum of the Stars base.

The cooldown on the crafting is 92 hours, but it's not shared with the cooldowns on the other types of specialized cloth.

==SPELLFIRE==
You can obtain a quest from Gidge Spellweaver (Neutral) in the Lower City section of Shattrath City if you have a minimum of Tailoring at 350 and a player level of 60. The quest leads you to summoning a level 70 non-elite elemental that you will have to defeat.

A player must be anywhere in the Netherstorm area to craft Spellcloth. A Nether-Wraith will spawn immediately after you end the crafting cast. You don't need to defeat it to keep the cloth, but since it always drops 1-3 Motes of Fire and 1-3 Motes of Mana, it is advisable to be prepared to defeat it.

The cooldown on the crafting is 92 hours, but it's not shared with the cooldowns on the other types of specialized cloth.
